𼰠WHO/WHAT:
⨠Stoop Stories⢠connects, supports, and celebrates our NYC neighbors, especially those hardest hit by the pandemic and systemic inequities.
⨠We honor generations of New Yorkers who connect through stoop life and story sharing.
⨠Meet our documentary storytelling collective of local artists.
đđž GOALS:
⨠Help us create more workshops and films that connect generations through the power of story and stoop culture.
⨠Support our team of local artists to create more community stories that need to be heard.
đ WHY?
Our world is divided and hurting...
⨠This summer, the U.S. Surgeon General warned of the public health crisis that loneliness, isolation, and disconnection pose to Americans in his advisory, âHealing Effects of Social Connection and Community.â
⨠Intergenerational programs bolster our sense of community, belonging and compassion, and a greater acceptance of our differences.
đĽ IMPACT:
Since April 2020, we have:
⨠Hired 20 NYC artists.
⨠Mentored four interns.
⨠Produced hundreds of features from families, small business owners, essential workers, activists, and artists.
⨠Reached an audience of more than 11,000 people throughout NYC and the US.
⨠Hosted 5 programs designed to connect neighbors and preserve cultural narratives.
⨠Partnered with Time Out New York, Big Brothers Big Sisters of NY, Heights and Hills, DOROT, Five Boro Story Project, STooPS Bed Stuy, Foster Pride and Atlantic Avenue BID.
⨠Exhibited at the Brooklyn Childrenâs Museum, Photoville, International Center for Photography, Arts Gowanus ArtWalk, and Art on the Ave NYC.
đ¤˛đ˝ GIVE TODAY:
⨠Donate any amount to support our team of local artists and help us build community. You may also make a recurring contribution.
đ FROM OUR FOUNDER:
â¨Since 2020, Stoop Stories has been a self-funded, volunteer-driven labor of love for NYC. Thanks to last year's community fundraising efforts, and two grants from Brooklyn Arts Council, weâve been able to start expanding, paying our team, and producing higher quality content. Weâve accomplished so much with a small budget, but we need your support to cover more underrepresented communities, compensate our team, and sustain and scale the project.
â¨We are currently raising funds for our intergenerational doc film series designed to reduce social isolation and preserve cultural narratives from neighborhood elders.
With HUGE gratitude,
Marj
