Eleven years ago, Digital Girl, Inc. was born out of a simple but powerful belief: every young person in Brooklyn deserves access to the digital skills, confidence, and opportunity needed to shape their own future. Today, that belief has grown into a community-wide mission — now serving Youth, Young Adults, Adults, and Older Adults 55+.

What started as a small grassroots effort has become a movement — rooted in Central Brooklyn and powered by thousands of young people, families, partners, and supporters who believe in the brilliance and potential of our next generation.

At the DGI Tech Center — and across classrooms, housing developments, libraries, and schools — we meet learners exactly where they are. Many come to us never having touched a robot, built an app, explored cybersecurity, or imagined themselves in careers in broadband, STEM, or emerging technologies. But within weeks, we witness transformation: creativity unlocked, problems solved, first lines of code written, industry certifications earned, and a newfound belief that they belong in these spaces.

Some of our proudest moments include watching a young woman who struggled to find her lane discover her passion through DGI — and go on to earn six figures before age 25; a student fascinated by law who became a Tech and Intellectual Property Attorney; and countless youth who once had STEM talked over them rise into game designers, coders, engineers, and community leaders. We’ve helped older adults confidently navigate telehealth, apply for jobs online, connect with family, and rediscover joy through digital independence.

During COVID, we provided free laptops to families who lacked access — and even now, we remain a trusted digital resource for neighbors seeking support.
