Homecrest Community Services Inc

Homecrest Community Services is a non-profit, IRS 501C(3) which provides community-based, multi-social services for older adults, youth, and families living in Southern Brooklyn. Our mission is to help the community and other disadvantaged persons to thrive through advocacy, civic engagement, and strategic partnerships.

Homecrest proudly operates four community centers across several Brooklyn neighborhoods, including Sheepshead Bay, Bensonhurst, and Sunset Park, each rich in local amenities and cultural diversity.

Our Sheepshead Bay Community Center was born in 1997 out of the vision of Luther Mook and Roland Hill, two dedicated advocates who saw an urgent, unmet need among Sheepshead Bay’s rapidly growing Asian-American population. Partnering with the historic Homecrest Presbyterian Church, they established our very first community and senior center. For over two decades, this location has been a true neighborhood anchor, welcoming 100 to 200 neighbors through its doors every single day.

As our community grew, so did our footprint. In 2004, the organization expanded to Bensonhurst to bring culturally competent programming directly to the neighborhood's Asian population. Located conveniently near the D train, this center made history in 2013 by becoming one of the first Asian-American older adult center in Brooklyn to receive official funding from the NYC Department for the Aging.

Today, whether we are providing important resources through our Multi-Social Services Center and Sunset Park Center, Homecrest remains what it has always been: a trusted lifeline, a fierce advocate, and a welcoming home for community members from all walks of life.
