We Are Our Community

The Opportunity Hub is a nonprofit based in Spring Creek Towers (also called Starrett City) in East New York, Brooklyn. We connect residents of all ages to programs, resources, and opportunities that strengthen our neighborhood. 

Our program teams include Youth Development & Education, Wellbeing, RISE (Resources for Independence, Success, and Empowerment), the Spring Creek Towers Farm, and the Spring Creek Sun newspaper. 

Many of us grew up right here in the neighborhood, and that shared experience keeps us grounded in what matters most: listening to our neighbors, creating space for growth, and building programs that reflect the real needs and hopes of the people we serve.

This Giving Tuesday, we are raising $20,000 to bring five community projects to life:

1. 
   Media Lab – Build a studio for young creatives to explore podcasting, film, and music production.


2. 
   Emergency Fund – Expand our fund to support residents experiencing housing, food, and income insecurity.


3. 
   Workforce Trips – Fund career exploration trips for job seekers to visit employers, explore new fields, and connect with career opportunities.


4. 
   Community Farm Stand – Launch a weekly farm stand in Starrett City where community members can buy fresh, affordable produce and young farmers can gain paid work experience.


5. 
   Digitization Project – Digitize the Spring Creek Sun archives to preserve 50 years of neighborhood stories while safely protecting the original copies. 

Every donation helps us make these projects possible and keep resources close to home.
