The National Fellowship for Black and Latino Male Educators

A nonprofit organization

THE PROBLEM

Nearly 48% of America’s students are Black or Latino, yet less than 2% of teachers and only 13% of senior leaders and 17% of C-level leaders are Black or Latino men. Too few students have the chance to be taught—or led—by someone who reflects their potential.

NFBLME is changing that by building an end-to-end Learners-to-Leaders pipeline, from students as learners to the boardroom as leaders. It begins with EduPathWorks high school dual enrollment apprenticeships, continues through college teacher residencies, and extends to leadership cohorts that prepare educators for senior and C-level roles.

Because representation is just the start we’re creating pathways to purpose, pride, and prosperity: helping men of color build meaningful careers, earn competitive salaries, and lead with excellence. Our National Fellowship includes:

  • Three powerful fellowship pathways (Rising, Senior, C-Level), each offering an unbeatable, all-inclusive leadership development experience.

  • 10 executive coaching sessions with a certified leadership coach.

  • Full 360° leadership assessment to identify strengths and growth areas.

  • Mentorship from senior and C-level Black and Latino leaders across the country.

  • 40+ hours of best-in-class training at three in-person retreats (four for our C-Level Cohort) led by nationally recognized organizations.

  • Soul-filling brotherhood and community that makes NFBLME unlike any other fellowship.

  • 5-week masterclasses and wellness workshops that accelerate growth- professionally and personally.

OUR IMPACT

In just our first year, halfway through the program:

  • 100% of our Fellows, and those they lead, report increased emotional intelligence in their leadership

  • 100% feel seen, heard, and valued for who they are

  • 86% report experiencing significant or transformational growth

Since then, the impact has continued to grow:

  • Our Fellowship has grown from one cohort of 60 Fellows impacting 60,000 students in 2020 to five cohorts and more than 150 Fellows in 2025! Now reaching over 800,000 students across 20 states and 31 cities.

  • 50%+ of alumni (65 individuals) have received promotions, including 50 who have moved into senior leadership and 15 who have reached C-level positions

  • 100% of Fellows say their emotional intelligence has increased as a result of the Fellowship

  • 100% of our most recent graduating fellows agreed/strongly agreed they would recommend this fellowship to another Black/Latino Male in their network and when asked the net promoter question directly, we scored a 9.64! (For context: a Net Promoter Score of 70% is considered excellent. We have a 90% score!)

  • 92% of our most recent graduating cohort believe the fellowship met their expectations

  • 92% of our most recent graduating cohort agree or strongly agree they have grown professionally as a result of the fellowship program.

Our work is backed and funded by various foundations including the Dell Foundation, Charter School Growth Fund, YASS Prize, New School Venture Fund, and Opportunity 180 Foundations. We’ve partnered with over 20 organizations to train and support Black and Latino male educators across the country.

YOUR IMPACT

Research shows that students of color achieve more, attend school more consistently, and are more likely to graduate when taught by educators who share their racial or cultural background. But this work goes beyond data, it’s about possibility. It’s not just about meeting influential people; it’s about seeing someone who looks like you, who shares your story, and realizing that you could be next. Representation matters, and when Black and Latino educators rise, entire generations rise with them.

This Giving Tuesday, your gift can make that future possible. By raising $25,000, we can fund one-year fellowships, college scholarships, and paid apprenticeships that help emerging educators of color access opportunity, gain experience, and build a foundation for lifelong leadership. Your contribution helps us continue to grow a pipeline of Black and Latino male educators, leaders who lift students, schools, and communities.
